ML in Medical Applications - Navigating Regulations and Clinical Evidence
Demystifying building, testing, and bringing ML applications to market in medicine
Please join PyData Pittsburgh for a talk from Dr. John Kalafut about building, testing, and deploying predictive algorithms for use in medicine.
We're experimenting with adding a new format — this will be our first all-online event. Don't worry, our in-person event series isn't going anywhere!
About the talk
The process of building, testing, and bringing to market machine learning and other predictive algorithms for use in medicine can be complicated and seemingly byzantine. In this talk, Dr. Kalafut will aim to demystify some of these complexities. We will review concepts and definitions like the difference between "Software As A Medical Device" and "Software In A Medical Device", how these different types of devices are regulated, the current criteria for determining if an algorithmic product is regulatory-grade, and how to navigate types of clinical decision support applications.
